The Moondogs

Playing your favorites from the 50's, 60's, and 70's Come ring in the New Year with the Moondogs beginning at 11:00pm @ Old North Church.

String Theory

Beginning at 10pm String Theory's dynamic guitar duo brings its eclectic mix of Classical, Jazz, and World Music to Canfield Presbyterian

Juliet McCowin

Juliet enjoys singing at family partys, at church with the youth group, and any opportunity to sing at public events.  This past November 2013 at Disneys Hollywood Studios, Juliet auditioned for the American Idol Experience.  Not only did she qualify to do "the show", but won!  She had to come back later that evening for the grand finale, and was first runner-up!  She loves to sing worship songs, country, and contemporary music.


The Dickey White Band

Dickey White Band will bring their rhythm and blues genre to First Night Canfield this year.  If you like B.B. King, Wilson Picket or the Doobie Brothers, this is for you! While Dickey White performs around town with various local talent,  this performance line-up includes Rick Blanco (Drums and Vocals), Laura Blanco (Bass), Mark Blanco (Rhythm & Lead Guitar) and Pam Condoleon (Lead Vocals).  Come on out and have fun with this goodtime band!

Rebecca Enlow

Rebecca Enlow is a senior vocal music education major studying at Youngstown State University, originally from Salem, Ohio. She has participated in several operas during her time at YSU, and will be playing the role of Adele in Die Fledermaus this spring. She also is a young artist with the Opera Western Reserve. After graduation, she plans to pursue a master's degree in vocal performance with an emphasis in pedagogy. She will be performing a variety of music including arias, oratorios, art songs, and musical theatre works.

Burke School of Irish Dance

The Burke School of Irish Dance, founded by Teresa (Tessie) Burke, has been in the Youngstown area since 1964.  Tessie has 3 schools located in Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Youngstown where she travels every week to teach.  Classes are held in Youngstown (Cornersburg) every Monday with additional classes throughout the week. New students accepted from the ages of 5-18.  Dancers compete all over the country and some qualify to compete in the World Championship in Ireland. Samantha Hogan

First Night Canfield is delighted to present a concert of original music by a very talented local composer. Samantha Hogan (b. 1990) is a composer based out of Youngstown OH. Influenced by a variety of styles from Classical, Rock, Jazz and Video Game music, her works encompass chamber, solo, and large ensemble pieces. Samantha graduated with honors from Youngstown State University's Dana School of Music in 2014 with a B.M. in Music Composition where she studied Composition under Dave Morgan, Scott Pfitzinger, Gwen Rollin, and Robert Rollin and Trombone with Michael Crist and John Olsson.

Carol Weakland

Once again, Carol Weakland returns to First Night Canfield with her one woman show “The Belle of Amherst.” Carol has introduced us to many wonderful characters over the years, and this year is no exception. Come and be enchanted as Carol becomes the life and words of poet Emily Dickinson. A rare treat by a Youngstown treasure!

Melinda Crawford

Last year Melinda wowed First Night Canfield audiences, and for her efforts, received a much deserved standing ovation! We are delighted to have her back again for 2015! Melinda Crawford is an assistant professor of music at Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA. She performs as part of the Westminster Faculty Piano Trio and with the Greenville Symphony. She received her Ph.D. in music education with an emphasis in string pedagogy from The Ohio State University. She also holds an M.A. in music education from The Ohio State University and a B.S. in music education from Duquesne University. As a U.S. National Scottish Fiddling Champion, Dr. Crawford has established herself as a leading solo performer and has recently released a CD of Scottish fiddle music entitled “The Sheiling Braes”. Melinda will be accompanied by her husband, composer Daniel Perttu.

Mahoning Valley Chorale

The Mahoning Valley Chorale, formerly Seraphim, is a community choral group. Bringing you a variety of music, Mahoning Valley Chorale is always welcoming new members.

Fr. Vit Fiala and Harper Kirk

Last year, First Night Canfield audiences were thrilled by the performance given by these two veteran musicians. Fr. Vit, who hails from the Czech Republic and graduated from the prestigious Prague Conservatory of Music joined perennial favorite Harper Kirk for a first class recital of music for cello and harp. We’re delighted to have them back!
